Bay Area Consortium Honors Research Symposium

Honors Students will be notified about the deadlines for submitting their research proposal to the conference as soon as that information becomes available.

The 2015 Bay Area Honors Reseach Symposium will be held on May 3, 2015 at Stanford University.  All CR Honors students are invited to attend the Stanford conference with us and to support the three CR Honors students who will be making presentations of their original research:  Stella Matteoli McNeil, Christopher Pitts, and Djineva Reneau-Tuzzolino


Honors Transfer Council of California

Transfer Alliance Program
College of the Redwoods negotiates special transfer agreements linking community college honors/scholars' programs to specific universities, large or small, public or private. Students completing our programs then enjoy enhanced transfer consideration at the partner-campus, e.g., guaranteed or priority acceptance, special scholarships, housing priority, and a range of other academic and social benefits such as library privileges even before transfer.

Benefits Awarded to Honors Students:

  • The extensive Humboldt State University Library provides checkout services, subscription-only online databases, access to scholarly journals not available at CR’s Library, and more
  • Advanced and enriched freshman and sophomore classes provide excellent preparation for transfer to upper division studies
  • Special academic advising (Lisa Liken) is the appointed Honors Academic Counselor. She is an expert in transfer education and advises all of the honors students. You can make an appointment with her in the back of the college's library).
  • Weekend field trips to museums, galleries, theatre, etc., largely at program expense, underscore the content each semester’s classes
  • Completion of general education transfer requirements
  • Access to honors-only transfer benefits (go to the Honors Transfer Council of California site to view some of the specific transfer benefits; we also have a special agreement with UCLA through the Transfer Alliance Program)
  • Faculty commitment is not limited to class and regular office hours, but also includes field trips, gatherings, and impromptu chats
