The
Music Department of the College of the Redwoods, Eureka
campus, offers a rich variety of music courses that compares
favorably to course offerings at larger community colleges.
The Department is chaired by Ed Macan, an internationally
renowned popular music scholar also well known in progressive
music circles for the innovative work of his band, Hermetic
Science. The Department also benefits from the contributions
of a number of associate faculty members who represent
the very finest Humboldt County has to offer in their
respective areas of expertise. Click

The College of the Redwoods Music offerings can be divided
into four types of courses: music theory, music in history
and culture, music performance classes, and ensembles.
See "Related Links" (to the right) for information
on each of these four categories of courses, including
course descriptions and recent syllabi for each course.
Courses are offered in both Fall and Spring semesters unless
