PAID PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TIME FOR MANAGEMENT AND CONFIDENTIAL EMPLOYEES
Confidential and Management employees may be allowed up to three hours per week of paid
professional development time to participate in job/career related activities. Typically,
such activities would include course work at an accredited institution of higher
education, in College of the Redwoods sponsored in-service education, in professional
organization-related staff development activities, etc.
Approval for such activities shall be provided in writing by the employee's supervisor and
one area administrator at the dean level or above (not required if the supervisor is at
the dean level or above.) Approval shall be filed with the Dean of Administrative
Services. It is understood that when the college's work cannot be done without the
employee and/or if in the opinion of the supervisor the proposed activity does not relate
to the employee's work, staff development time will not be granted.
