ARTICULATION AGREEMENTS
College of the Redwoods is interested in collaborating with regional adult and high schools to identify instruction that is comparable in content and academic rigor. This effort encourages a better sequencing of curriculum as well as closer alignment of content standards, thereby assisting prospective students with a smoother transition to college programs.
Schools that are interested in developing an articulation agreement will notify the college and work with college faculty to determine the feasibility of articulating a particular course. If faculty within the discipline that normally teach the course decide that the proposed articulation is appropriate, faculty will review the instructional resources at the school and identify the competencies and methods of competency validation to be listed on individual articulation agreements. Schools establish a memorandum of understanding with CR indicating a single point contact and the courses that they plan to articulate. An articulation agreement is prepared for signature by the principal, the school’s single point contact, and an instructor at the participating school as well as the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the appropriate dean, the Curriculum Committee, and discipline-specific faculty at the college. All parties will review the articulation agreement at least every two years.
Upon completion of the identified competencies with a grade of A or B, the student receives a signed Student Grade Sheet from his or her teacher. The student submits the grade sheet and any other competency validation measures to the appropriate CR faculty member for review and applies for admission to the college. CR faculty, the related department chair, and dean will approve or deny the articulation request and submit the documentation to the CR Enrollment Services Office.
Upon acceptance to CR and approval of program faculty, the student will earn credit for the articulated course in accordance with BP 526, Credit by Examination.
