VACATION

Members of the classified service will receive vacation credit at the rate of ten (10) work days of annual leave with pay for each full year of employment during the first three (3) years of employment as based upon the anniversary date of the employee. (E.C. 13651)

During the first fiscal year of employment, vacation credit will be earned as follows:

After the third year of employment, vacation credit at the rate of one and one-quarter (1-1/4) days of annual leave for each month of employment to a total of fifteen (15) days per year will be received by the employee.

Vacation time may be accumulated to a maximum number of days that would be earned in a two year work period. To prevent the loss of any accumulated vacation which exceeds the amount for a two year work period, the vacation must be taken prior to Dec. 31 of that year. The maximum number of days for which an employee can receive pay in lieu of vacation upon his or her termination shall be equivalent to that earned in two years of service.

The time during which employees will be granted vacations will be at the discretion of their immediate supervisor who will refer the request to the Vice-President, Business Services, for final action and approval by the Superintendent. Regarding the approval of vacation, it must be remembered that the needs of the District will govern the scheduling of vacations on the part of the employees.

Upon separation from employment, vacation time accrued and not used will bepaid at the regular salary rate of the employee to a maximum of thirty (30) days vacation accumulated.

A probationary employee leaving before being classified as a permanent employee, will receive no vacation days.
