STUDENT EMPLOYMENT POLICY
The College of the Redwoods recognizes that campus student employment is a major factor
in the student employee's personal development and retention. The District will fund the
work-study program in the annual budget to the extent possible, and the District shall
participate in the Federal College Work-Study Program.
District Work-Study Program (DWSP)
The purpose of the District W-S Program is to provide financial assistance and job
experience for as many eligible students as possible: which in turn, provides valuable
services for the college District.
Students employed in the DWSP:
Federal College Work-Study Program (CWSP)
The program is designed for students who have financial aid eligibility and need. This
program is intended to stimulate and promote part-time employment to needy students.
Additionally, it is directed toward broadening the range of worth-while job opportunities
for qualified students.
To qualify for CWSP:
Students employed and paid by funds from the Extended Opportunity Program and Services
(EOPS) Work-Study Program must meet EOPS eligibility criteria as well as criteria listed
above for the Federal College Work-Study program.
Administrative regulations shall be developed to implement these two programs including
procedures for position requests, supervisor training of student employees, selection and
wage payment procedure.
Implementation of this policy shall conform to the College of the Redwoods District
Affirmative Action Policy and shall not result in the displacement of classified personnel
nor impair existing contracts for services.
