STUDENT BODY ASSOCIATION
The Board and College encourage students to form a student body organization to
represent the students at the College and to continue activities not in conflict with the
authority and responsibility of the district and College.
An organization to be approved shall meet the following qualifications:
a. Purposes of the organization shall not conflict with authority and responsibilities of
the Board or the best interests of the students;
b. Proposed membership shall be entirely within currently enrolled student body;
c. Qualifications for membership shall be reasonably related to the purposes of the
organization, and no student who qualifies shall be denied membership;
d. The organization may not be affiliated with or be a part of an organization that bases
membership solely on considerations of race, color, sex, creed, or political beliefs; and
e. The Board authorizes the development of student body organizations, when appropriate,
to serve the needs of day and evening students and special circumstances caused by
geographic locations of the district.
f. An advisor shall have been selected.
Student body organizations must conduct financial operations in accordance with Board
policy and applicable Education Code sections.
The Board hereby directs the President or designee to develop the appropriate rules and
regulations to support the activities of the student body, clubs, organizations, and
curriculum related to student activities.
