HAZARDOUS MATERIALS PLAN
The Redwoods Community College District will develop and maintain a comprehensive
Hazard Communication Plan in compliance with the Federal OSHA Hazard Communication
Standard and the California General Safety
Orders, Section 5194, Hazard Communication.
The Redwoods Community College District Hazard Communication Plan intends to provide
information about chemical hazards and other hazardous substances, the control of hazards
and employee training at the District
campus locations.
The following areas will be covered in detail:
> The name of the person or persons responsible for the plan and for communicating it
to the employees.
> The name of the person or persons responsible for employee information and training,
labeling procedures, Material Safety Data Sheets, record keeping, etc., pursuant to the
standard.
> A comprehensive list of hazardous substances at various campus locations.
> The methods to be used for compliance with the requirements of the standard
pertaining to:
- Labeling and other forms of warning.
- Material Safety Data Sheets.
- Employee information and training.
> The methods used to inform employees of the potential hazards of non-routine tasks
and the hazards of working on unlabeled pipes.
> The methods the District will use to inform outside contractors, who may have
employees working at campus
locations, of hazardous substances to which the contractor's employees may be exposed
while performing their work. The method the District will use to inform its employees of
any hazardous substances which a contractor may bring into the Campus locations, to the
extent this is applicable.
