| COLLEGE OF THE REDWOODS | Board of Trustees Policy No. 905 |
RELATIONS WITH SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS
Any requests from civic institutions or special interest groups which involve such activities as patriotic functions, contests, exhibits, sales of products to and by students, graduation prizes, fund raising, and free teaching materials must be carefully reviewed to insure that on balance such activities promote student interests without advancing the special interests of any particular group.
It is the policy of the Board that students, staff members and College facilities shall
not be used for advertising or promoting the interests of any non-College agency or
organization, public or private, without the approval of the Board or its delegated
representative; and any such approval granted, for whatever cause or group, shall not be
construed as an endorsement of such cause or group by the Board.
All materials or activities proposed by outside sources for student or staff use or
participation shall be evaluated on the basis of educational value in the total College
program; benefit to students; advancement of the name, product or special interest of the
proposing group; factual accuracy and good taste.
All solicitation of funds from students or faculty for purposes other than authorized
College activities will be prohibited, except with the expressed approval of the Board of
Trustees.
The Board recognizes the social and scholastic values that may be derived by students
participating in various activities sponsored by community organizations, but specifies
there shall not be unreasonable demands on the time and energies of students and staff.
