Disabled Students Programs and Services
ADAPTED CLASSES
:
- Adaptive
Physical Education. (PE
90, PE 93, PE 98) provides students with disabilities
direct participation and individual growth in classes
designed for life-style fitness.
- Art
for the Person with Disabilities. (Art
110) provides students with disabilities the opportunity
to complete a series of projects using a variety of materials
adapted to their individual needs.
- College
Skills and Disabilities Awareness. (GS 110) gives students information about the resources
available on campus. Included is specialized information
about arranging accommodation services, specialized equipment
in the education setting for students with disabilities,
self-advocacy skills and the Americans with Disabilities
Act.
- Adaptive
Computer Assisted Instruction. (GUID
379, GUID 380) courses provide instruction in adapted
computer technology. Students receive individualized instruction
in computer software and hardware; assessments for selection
of appropriate computer adaptations and instruction to
improve basic skills, cognitive processes and computer

- Adaptive
Strategies for the Learning Disabled. (GUID
343, GUID 345) offers the California Community Colleges
Chancellor's Office learning Disabilities Assessment Procedure.
Additionally, the Light
Center. offers learning
strategy instruction which supports other CR programs.
The curriculum covers strategies for success with academic
coursework, including math, reading, writing, spelling
and other areas.
