Current Event Status

On October 9, 2007 - The fiber optic line that connects the North Coast to the rest of the world has been cut again.  We anticipate for the repair to be completed by the end of the business day.

Recent Events Status

On September 18, 2007 - Users were unable to access Blackboard.  ITS replaced the network card on the Blackboard server.  Services were restored by 10:00 AM.   

On June 8, 2007, another AT&T fiber cut occurred at approximately 11 a.m., affecting the entire connectivity of the North Coast, including the College's Internet link.  Reportedly the fiber was damaged by a contrator in Weott.  Service was restored at about 3 p.m.

On March 15, 2007, a longstanding problem in uploading files to Blackboard and other services was resolved.  The problem affected only Suddenlink cable internet subscribers in Humboldt County and was traced to a hardware fault in a Suddenlink router in San Jose.

On Saturday, January 20, from approximately 5 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the College experienced a loss of network connectivity due to the failure of AT&T's fiber connection between Eureka and Santa Rosa.  Damage to the fiber was reportedly caused by a structure fire near the north end of Willits.

A loss of network connectivity occurred on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, beginning at approximately 3 p.m.  This was part of a regional loss of connectivity due to the breakage of AT&T fiber optic trunk cable in Miranda in southern Humboldt County.  The fiber was repaired by approximately 4 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 27.  However, at about the same time, the CR Eureka Campus suffered an electrical power outage (part of widespread PG&E electrical outages), which kept CR off the network until power was restored to the campus at 10:40 a.m. that day.  After power was restored, all online systems restarted successfully, and the College's connection to the Internet was re-established.
