A Brief History In Spring 2003, President Casey Crabill announced CR's interest in applying for this federal grant and called for volunteers to work on building a Title III project. Over 40 volunteers stepped forward to work on the project, which initially was visioned as three interconnected activities: developmental education, student learning support services, and institutional research. At a district-wide "Title III Kickoff Meeting" in Fall 2003, three committees comprised of interested volunteers were formed and began efforts developing each of these activities. Out of district-wide committee work in Fall 2003 and the 2004 requirements for Title III grant applications, Institutional Research (IR) emerged as the grant-fundable critical need at CR. The grant was submitted in Spring 2004, but was not considered for funding until Spring 2005. In July 2005, CR was notified that a Title III grant of $1.6 million dollars over five years had been awarded. The official launch of the Title III Grant effort at CR began in October 2005.
