Wi-Fi in the Library
Wi-Fi access is only available for students and staff. Wi-Fi users in the Library, or in any part of the LRC, are subject to the same rules and restrictions, and receive the same privileges, as persons using the networked computers. Please see Board Policy 824 and Administrative Procedure 824.01, "Use of Information Resources," available at: http://www.redwoods.edu/district/board/policies/ar/AR82401.Htm
First time users should bring their laptop or wireless enabled device into the LRC, and follow these steps:
1) Open the browser on your device. Both Firefox and Internet Explorer are compatible.
2) You will see the signup page. Fill in all of the requested information completely. You must use your complete legal first and last name, not a nickname or made-up name. You need an email address to sign in, and you can think up your own password.
3) Pick up an authorization form at the Library's Circulation Services Desk, fill it out, and return it to the staff at the desk.
4) Library staff will need to enter your email address into the database of authorized users before you can access the Wi-Fi network. This may take five minutes to an hour depending on staff work load and availability.
Once you have been authorized, you will not need to re-register. When you open your browser in the LRC you will be prompted for your email address and your password. Use the email address and the password that you used when you signed up on the Wi-Fi service. You will then have full Internet access every time you visit the LRC.
You may be requested to confirm your email address and password from time to time. If you forget your password, you'll need to go to www.meraki.com, choose the "login" link, and then use the "reset password" option.
Printing is NOT YET available through the Wi-Fi network. You must use one of the networked computers if you want to send anything to the printers. Various types of removable storage media (USB, disks, etc.) are available at the Circulation Services Desk if you need to save your work for printing from a networked computer.
