Academy of the Redwoods offers opportunities that are unlike any
other school in our area. We expect our students to struggle intellectually
and not be daunted by the challenge. People frequently ask us how
we select our students. Our simple answer is that we want students
who select us. We see their choice to come to the Academy as the
first step they take in learning to become responsible for their
own education. Thus, middle school grades are not a primary factor
in selection. When prospective students talk to us, we are very
interested in hearing why they want to come to the Academy. Given
our standards for performance, students must be truly committed
to engage a rigorous and accelerated academic curriculum, work collaboratively,
make presentations, plan and execute projects, and reflect deeply
on any negative behavior.
