General Information
From its humble beginnings 27 years ago, Science Night at CR has grown into a campus-wide event, stretching from presentations "Just What is Clay, Anyway?" in the Creative Arts building, all the way to "Plaque Attack" in Dental Assisting area of the Applied Technology building. In between there is a petting zoo and pumpkin patch, "Weapons of Math Instruction" (the pumpkin catapult/trebuchet behind the Physical Science building), and dinner faire for families in the campus Cafeteria. Also, Humboldt Hot Dogs will be set up at in the Creative Arts area.

CR presents 26th Science Night, Friday, Oct. 21
College of the Redwoods will present its 26th Science Night on Friday, Oct. 21 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
This educational and fun evening of free activities will be held on the CR Eureka main campus in the Life Science, Physical Science, Creative Arts and Applied Technology buildings. The campus is located at 7351 Tompkins Hill Road, seven miles south of Eureka.
Science Night offers fun for all ages and includes demonstrations, hands-on activities, experiments, and lectures—most presented by CR faculty—on many facets of math, science, health, and technology.
This year Science Night is set around a major construction project in the center of campus which will cause some areas to be closed to the general public. In light of safety issues this year CR stresses the requirement that children have adult supervision at all times while on campus for this year’s event. There will be a shuttle bus operating on the road between Creative Arts and the dining Hall for those with access challenges.
The public parking is recommended in the Creative Arts area, which can be accessed by using the north entrance off Tompkins Hill Road.
CR will also be incorporating a Biodiversity Conference into Science Night for the first time from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Life Science room 102.
There will be presentations on local ecology by renowned North Coast educators and researchers. The central unifying theme of the talks is the diversity of flora and fauna in our bioregion.
From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the discussions will be aimed primarily at college students and the general public. From 5 to 9 p.m., the presentations will be targeted to an all-ages audience to accommodate the Science night attendees.
