On November 6, $24,300 was awarded to 30 serious, hardworking College of the Redwoods, Del Norte students. These students are majoring in: Administration of Justice, Behavioral and Social Science, Business, Digital Media, Humanities and Communications, Early Childhood Education, Mathematics, Nursing, Physics, Science and Teaching. Many are preparing to transfer to a 4-year university with several planning to return to Del Norte County to seek professional employment.
These scholarships are the result of years of generous donations provided by Del Norte community members and organizations. Beyond the much needed financial support, a scholarship delivers the message to a student that we as a community believe in their ability to succeed. These awards make a big difference in a student’s capacity to complete their college education and improve the quality of their lives.
“An investment in an individual student is an investment in our community” said Becky Blatnick, CR Del Norte Trio SSSP Counselor/Director. “Scholarship awards not only give students a financial boost, but the recognition for achievement also inspires students to further succeed in pursuing their goals,” added Ken Letko, CR Del Norte English Professor.
