Alumni Association
Faculty Grants
The CR Alumni Association accepts applications for their annual (spring) grant award for the purchase of instructional equipment. The Association offers up to $1,500 for equipment, which may include, but is not limited to , such items as software, printers, books, videos, audiotapes, etc.
In reviewing proposals, the selection committee will give priority to those applications that clearly show how the equipment to be purchased will directly benefit a large population of CR students. All departments in the District are encouraged to apply.
For further information, please call our office at (707) 476-4356.
And the winners were....
This year the Alumni Association received 12 applications totaling over $16,000. Every year, it is very difficult to select the winners.
April 2006
CR Sustainable Farm (proposed by Franz Rulofson) received $500.00. These funds will purchase fuel cards to allow better access to the farm for students facing the increased gas prices. Students will carpool and visit the farm more often for hands on experience, and to help increase program enrollment in the future.
Law Enforcement Training Center (Ron Waters) received $300.00. These funds will help purchase a new overhead projector, thus enhancing the students learning and providing more resources to faculty.
April 2005
DSPS (proposed by Kim Quintal) received $400.00. They will replace various worn pieces of equipment that will be used in many adaptive physical education classes. Including Nu-Step straps, body fat analyzers, water noodles, water heart rate charts, hand buoys and resistance tubing.
Health and Physical Education (proposed by Mike Woychak) received $600.00. They will purchase ten CPR manikins for use in seven different classes. These new manikins are more realistic, easier to transport, and will provide a better training experience for our students.
April 2004
This year the Alumni Association received 26 applications totaling $24,000+ and each one of them was a very worthwhile proposal. As all the judges agreed, every year it gets harder and harder to make the selections.
The winning proposals were as follows:
Forestry (presented by Tim Baker) received $771 to purchase a waterproof dissolved oxygen meter and supplies plus invertebrate sample nets. These items will greatly enhance student field experiences in the Watershed Management class, Introduction to Forestry and Natural Resources as well as students taking environmental science and geology courses.
Health and Physical Education (proposed by Mike Woychak) received $488 to purchase an advanced casualty simulation kit. This kit would greatly enhance the learning experience for first aid labs by simulating such things as wounds, burns, fractures, poisoning, bites, etc. and adding an element of realism to the exercises.
The French classes (submitted by Joe Friedman) received $300 to purchase a DVD player to benefit students in French 1A and 1B and also supplement the foreign film collection.
Announcement of the winning proposals was made at our Wine on the Water event on April 30 which is the major source of funds used for faculty equipment grants. Our thanks to all the applicants for taking the time to submit their applications and to all the attendees at Wine on the Water for your continued support.
