Regulations and Guidelines for Online Documents

These regulations and guidelines are intended to help developers of online content such as Blackboard pages so that people with whatever disabilities can still access the information.

CR online Blackboard and Web pages must meet the following standards:

  • CR Board of Trustees Policy No. 809  which includes guidelines for online accessibility in § III. Policy Statement - Access to Electronic and Information Technology :

"The College's home web page and all other pages associated with locations, programs, admissions, schedules, news, and departments shall meet Priority Levels I and II as set forth in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and its implementing regulations set forth at Title 36 CFR Part 1194. Every individual web page hosted by the College's web page shall meet at a minimum Priority I accessibility standards."

Of course it is possible to create Web pages that meet all of the regulations but are still not completely accessible. It is best to check the pages with accessible software such as JAWS to ensure that they are really useable.
