College of the Redwoods sophomore Aubrey Mendonca will continue her education and basketball playing career at Notre Dame de Namur University next year. Mendonca led the Corsairs to a second place finish in the Golden Valley Conference this season. She was selected to First Team All-Golden Valley Conference (GVC) after a season in which she averaged 21.4 points per game, second highest in the GVC and fourth highest in the state. The 5’ 5” guard also hit 34.8% of her shots beyond the 3-point arc and averaged three assists per game.
Mendonca has carried a 3.87 grade point average at Redwoods and has qualified for the President’s Honors List in both of her two semesters at the college. She is a graduate of West Valley High School in Cottonwood near Redding and transferred to Redwoods from Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) in Klamath Falls. She had participated in basketball as a freshman at OIT.
Notre Dame de Namur, located in Belmont just south of San Francisco, is a private Catholic university. The Argonauts compete in the Pacific West Conference (Pac West) in NCAA Division II. The Pac West includes universities in Hawaii, California and Utah.
