Coach Wilks takes over the reins of the College of the Redwoods women's soccer program after spending 21 years as an assistant coach with the men's soccer team at Humboldt State University. As a long-time assistant to the recently retired HSU head coach, Alan Exeley, Lyle had many on-field responsibilities. Prior to coaching at Humboldt State, Wilks was the head coach of the boy's varsity soccer team at Arcata High School from 1979-1982.

During the summer Wilks has worked for Cascade Soccer Camps in Portland, Oregon since 1982 and has served as a Camp Director for Cascade since 1999. He has his Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education, as well as a California Teaching Credential, both from Humboldt State.
