Oliveira, who graduated from Arcata High School, participated in three sports during his time at CR from 1969-1971. He was a basketball team captain, team most valuable player, all-conference selection and was named to the 1970’s CR Basketball ‘Team of the Decade’. Oliveira continued his playing career and education at Chico State where he completed his bachelor’s degree, teaching certificate and administrative credential. He then embarked on a 35-year education career in teaching, coaching and administration. He spent 26 years roaming the sidelines as a high school head basketball coach. His teams won over 360 games, nine league championships, two North Coast Section (NCS) Championships and made appearances in the California State Championship Tournament ‘Elite 8’ and ‘Final 4’.
CARA OLSEN
Assistant Coach/Second Season
Coach Olsen, who is in her second season at CR, played her high school basketball at South Fork, helping the Cubs to three consecutive Little 4 championships from 2006-08. She was All-League her senior year, and after high school, attended College of the Redwoods, where she starred for two seasons from 2008-2010, earning All-Golden Valley Conference Honorable Mention both seasons.
JEN FURBER
Assistant Coach/First Season
Coach Furber, who is in her first season at CR, graduated from Arcata High in 1997, where she starred for the Tigers in basketball, earning an athletic scholarship to Howard College in Big Spring, Tx.. She played with the Hawks for one season before transferring to Humboldt State, where she played for two seasons, graduting in June of 2003.
TIM PARISI
Assistant Coach/First Season
Coach Parisi, who is in his first season at CR, attended Ridgefield Park High School in New Jersey and graduated in 1968. He then went to Adelphi University in Long Island New York from 1968-72, and played a year of basketball. Parisi moved to California in 1975, and attended CR for two years, before moving on to Humboldt State and receiving his Master’s Degee in Education in 1992. Coach Parisi, like coach Oliveira, has a coaching educational career spanning three decades.
