What can you/we do?

All students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to take everyday preventive actions:

  • Stay home when sick.
  • Use “respiratory etiquette”.
  • Cover cough with a tissue or sleeve.
  • Provide adequate supplies within easy reach, including tissues and no-touch trashcans.
  • Wash hands frequently.
  • Routinely clean frequently touched surfaces.
  • Remain at home until fever (100.4° F [37.8° C] or greater using an oral thermometer) has been gone for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicines.
  • Seek immediate medical care if symptoms become more severe, e.g., high fever or difficulty breathing.

In the unusual event that a student, faculty, or staff member is identified who has symptoms of respiratory illness, such as fever and cough we will take the following steps:

  • Separate the individual from others as much as possible and arrange for the individual to go home. If residing in a dormitory, we will make arrangements for the student to be placed into a single room with a private bathroom, and
  • Contact our local health department.

The College is posting flyers in every restroom reminding people to wash their hands and proper hand washing techniques, installing paper towels in restrooms; and providing hand sanitizers in classrooms, conference rooms, and common areas.
