KIAH MARTIN

- WOMEN’S SOCCER –

Redwoods women’s soccer went on the road for 2 GVC matchups. Battling injuries, Redwoods competed and tied with Feather River 1-1 and Butte 2-2. Kiah Martin, local standout from Eureka High, played a significant role in both games. Martin played great defense versus Feather River and scored both goals versus Butte. Martin talks about the competition in league so far.

“It is a lot better than what I expected. But so far I’m happy with the results and now we know what to expect, so we are going to continue to work hard and get better.”

ALEJANDRO OSORIO

- CROSS COUNTRY –

Redwoods Cross Country participated in the Toro Park Invitational/NorCal Preview and put together another respectable team performance. Alejandro Osorio, freshman from Texas, stood out for the Redwoods in the 4-mile race. Coming in as Redwood’s #5 runner he places 4thfor the team and placed 116thout of 155. Alejandro’s official time was 24:25.4, beating his previous best time by over 2 minutes. Alejandro talks about his goal for this season.

“My goal is to continue to contribute on a weekly basis for my team. I have confidence in myself because of the amount of hard work and effort I put into every workout.”
