College of the Redwoods Workforce and Community Education Introduces New Pharmacy Technician Program

Beginning in spring of 2020, College of the Redwoods Workforce and Community Education will offer an expanded pharmacy technician program. 

The new pharmacy technician program will consist of 140 classroom hours and includes a 120-hour externship, where students will be placed at a local pharmacy to hone their pharmacy technician skills in a workplace setting. Additionally, the program prepares and qualifies students to sit for the ExCPT (National Healthcareer Association) and PTCE (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) exams.  The program meets the education requirements of the California Board of Pharmacy, however, national certification, although not required, is also encouraged.

The program instructor Kyle Bigham is a local pharmacist.  Classes will be held on Saturdays from 9am to 4:30pm at 525 D Street, Eureka beginning February 8th, 2020.

Learn more by attending a free information session on Saturday, January 11th, at 10am in Room 111 at 525 D Street, Eureka or an online sessions on either January 14th at 6pm or January 25th at 10am.  These information sessions are a great way to discover more about the program, and what it takes to be a licensed pharmacy technician in California.
