Beginning in spring of 2020, College of the Redwoods Workforce and Community Education will offer an expanded pharmacy technician program.
The new pharmacy technician program will consist of 140 classroom hours and includes a 120-hour externship, where students will be placed at a local pharmacy to hone their pharmacy technician skills in a workplace setting. Additionally, the program prepares and qualifies students to sit for the ExCPT (National Healthcareer Association) and PTCE (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) exams. The program meets the education requirements of the California Board of Pharmacy, however, national certification, although not required, is also encouraged.
The program instructor Kyle Bigham is a local pharmacist. Classes will be held on Saturdays from 9am to 4:30pm at 525 D Street, Eureka beginning February 8th, 2020.
