College of the Redwoods’ Eureka and Del Norte TRiO Student Support Services programs have both received the 2020-2025 Grant Awards from the U.S. Department of Education. Both of the programs received a perfect score on their proposals.

“The TRiO Student Support Services program in Eureka is honored to be able to continue supporting students at College of the Redwoods for the next 5 years,” said Katy Keyser, Director of TRiO and Upward Bound at the CR Eureka campus. “Our TRiO programs at the Eureka and Del Norte campuses have put tremendous effort into supporting students during this difficult time and we are so pleased we’re able to continue this support while working in collaboration with the college to provide the services our students need to be successful.”

TRiO programs are designed to empower students to achieve personal, career, and education goals by providing enhanced counseling and advising services, a peer-based learning community, academic and technical support services, career development, financial aid support and financial literacy support.

TRiO Student Support Services will serve students who are first generation, low-income, and/or students with disabilities by supporting their success.

“The Del Norte program has existed for over 30 years,” said Kelly Carbone, Director and Counselor at the CR Del Norte TRiO program. “But we are held accountable by the Department of Education every year to reach ambitious rates of student success measured by how many of our students persist from one year to the next, stay in good academic standing, graduate, and transfer.”
