CR Appoints Two New Board Members

Published on 10/6/2020.

The College of the Redwoods Board of Trustees elected two new members today at their regular monthly meeting. Dr. Rebecca Robertson will serve a full, four-year term and succeed Mr. Bruce Emad in representing Area 5 and Mr. Tracy Coppini will finish out the remainder of Dr. Bonnie Deister’s term representing Area 1.

Mr. Emad’s term on the board will end in December and he has decided not to run for re-election. Although this seat would normally be filled by whomever was successful in the November 3 elections, no candidate filed to run for this seat and so the appointment fell to the board.

Dr. Bonnie Deister resigned as trustee for Area 1 effective September 1, with a little more than two years remaining in her term. Mr. Coppini will be up for reelection in 2022.

“The Trustees sincerely thank the six community members who applied for our two vacant seats,” says CR Board of Trustees Dr. Collen Mullery. “All applicants were highly qualified and it was evident during our interviews that each had unique talents and valuable skills that would contribute to the work of the Board. We heartily welcome the two successful applicants and look forward to collaborating with them to continue our efforts toward ensuring student success, inclusivity and fiscal stability.”

CR President Dr. Keith Flamer agrees, stating, “I want to congratulate Dr. Robertson and Mr. Coppini for their appointments to serve as trustees for College of the Redwoods.”

“Today, by majority vote, the CR Board of Trustees selected two incredibly qualified people to join them on the Board,” he continues. “I know that Dr. Robertson and Mr. Coppini are extremely supportive, compassionate, and thoughtful leaders who will work tirelessly alongside the administration to meet the challenges we will face in the future.”
