CR International Women's Celebration March 7th & 8th

The Multicultural and Diversity Center is proud to announce this year’s International Women’s Day Celebration with two great events. We have two great presenters this year. Bianca Lago will launch this year’s celebration and we will end with Dr. Kim Berry, this year’s keynote speaker. Light refreshments will be provided at each event
 
Thursday, March 7th
3-5pm in LRC 103
Presentation, discussion and collaborative art activity
 
Bianca Lago is a artist working primarily with the figure in painting and sculpture in an attempt to explore the human condition and its multiple facets. The artist holds an Associate Degree for transfer and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Studio Art from Humboldt State University. She is Currently working towards her Certificate in Museum and Gallery Practices at Humboldt State University. Lago sits on the Board of Directors for the Women’s Caucus for Art and is the Chair of the Young Women’s Caucus for Art.

Lecture, film screening and discussion of the documentary "No One Has Come Alone" about the Single Women's Movement in Himachal Pradesh, India (Ekal Nari Shakti Sangathan).
 
Kim Berry, Ph.D. Professor and Chair of Critical Race, Gender and Sexuality Studies, HSU. Dr. Berry earned her PhD in Anthropology from Cornell University in 1997. Her research, teaching, and activist interests include postcolonial and intersectional feminisms; postcolonial queer theory; theories of space, place and identity; the gendered and racialized effects of neoliberal globalization; and the ethics of transnational feminist research. Since 2005, Dr. Berry has been engaging in transnational feminist praxis with Ekal Nari Sangathan (ENSS) or the Association of Empowered Single Women in northwestern India.
