College of the Redwoods Automotive Technology Program welcomes the newest addition to their developing hybrid electric vehicle training curriculum, a 2018 Chevy Bolt, purchased from Northwood Chevy in Eureka.
CR are in the process of developing HEV training on the recommendation of their Auto Tech Advisory Committee. After confirming the strong demand for HEV training, CR is in the process of developing coursework, acquiring vehicles, and getting instructors trained, through a Strong Workforce Grant process.
Will Mobley, Service Manager at Northwood, serves on the program advisory committee and has employed recent CR program graduate Jared Soderman as a technician trainee. Mobley recognizes the need for technical training for future automotive technicians through CR and fully supports the development of HEV training.
"It's great to have local industry partners who support what we do through advisory participation" said Mike Richards, Automotive Technology Professor at CR. “We are also fortunate to have administrative support for this important grant opportunity. I look forward to being able to offer HEV classes soon.”
