CR Raising Money to House Homeless Students
CR is raising money for a new scholarship to support homeless students. The Redwoods Room and Board Scholarship is a competitive scholarship awarded to CR students who are experiencing homelessness or ongoing housing insecurity. The scholarship provides housing in the CR residence halls and a meal plan in the CR Cafeteria. CR is contributing four rooms per semester, valued at $50,000. We are asking for your support to cover the annual meal expenses of $48,000 and thereby provide $16 a day per student for food. Cabinet members are contributing $30/month. Tami Engman has challenged her fellow classified employees to give $6 a month.

Print Tracking Update

IT is configuring the Pcounter system, currently used only by CR students, for use by faculty and staff. The system will track the printing of individuals with a 6 digit numeric code. IT still has a lot to do to implement the system, so we are delaying wide-spread use until the summer session.

Technology in Science & Humanities Classrooms

At the last meeting of the Academic Senate, senators discussed alternatives to the Smart Boards that are reaching end-of-life. Please provide feedback about the technology in the Science or Humanities buildings here. Your input is critical to future tech purchases.

Bookstore Update

·         Help the Bookstore Task Force by reminding your students to take the bookstore survey in Canvas. Their input is essential to the college. 206 students have completed the survey to date.

·         Save the date! A representative from Barnes & Nobles’ online textbook company will present to CR on December 4 at 10 am and 3 pm. Come and ask questions.
