Textbook Cost Info

I will send out another request asking you to identify your course sections with low textbook cost (LTC - $40 and lower) and zero textbook cost (ZTC) in the near future. I’m waiting until section staffing is closer to being finalized. The ZTC symbols in the current schedule of classes will not roll forward to summer and next fall and spring. You will need to indicate your LTC and ZTC sections when I send the call-out.

CVC-OEI
CR’s Academic Senate voted in support of joining the California Virtual Campus-Online Education Initiative (CVC-OEI).  The CVC-OEI is supported because the initiative offers CR technology and resources to support student success, and because the OEI Course Design Rubric has been endorsed by CR as the standard to strive for in online classes. Next week, while at the CIO conference, I will attend a keynote session from the Executive Director of the CVC-OEI about ‘the brave new world of online instruction.’

Guided Pathways

The Guided Pathways Committee is 20 members strong and growing! And everyone attends and contributes! Last week, we worked on a ‘Guided Pathways Essential Practices: Scale of Adoption Self-Assessment’ report that is due to the Chancellor’s Office at the end of the month. We are tasked with describing our progress on each of 23 essential practices. Check out the next Academic Senate packet to review the full draft report. Please forward any feedback about the report to me.

Thanks to everyone who has participated in the meeting with the Guided Pathways Coordinators. I’ve heard that the conversations at those meetings have been collaborative and productive.

Institutional Effectiveness

Paul Chown hosted the Institutional Effectiveness Summit on Saturday. A small but enthusiastic group of faculty and staff brainstormed ways of meeting the College's new Vision for Success Goals. They generated a wealth of ideas to add to the inventory Paul created from the visioning sessions held at each CR location.

Committee members, please don’t forget to evaluate each committees:

Did you know that the Institutional Effectiveness Committee (IEC) maintains the district’s Committee Handbook? Any changes in membership or scope of a district committee should be submitted to the IEC for review and inclusion in the handbook.
