Guided Pathways and Info Tool Makeovers

Eureka Finals Schedule Gets a Makeover

Click on the Finals Schedule for Eureka and you’ll notice that it looks different from how it’s looked in previous semesters. But don’t panic: the times and dates haven’t changed. We’ve simply updated the design so that it’s easier for students to interpret.

Canvas Quiz Tool Getting More than a Makeover

Canvas is replacing its assessment tool. Eventually, New Quizzes will replace the existing Canvas Quizzes as the sole assessment tool in Canvas. But, again, don’t panic! This is expected to occur by the end of 2020. Reno is working to make New Quizzes available for faculty who request it by the end of this semester, and the plan is to make it available to all faculty sometime in the spring. Users who activate New Quizzes in their account can still use Canvas Quizzes and can use both quizzing options in their account until Canvas Quizzes is removed from Canvas.

Click here for more information about the quiz tool and here for an FAQ. Reno will send out more information about phasing this in at CR at the end of the semester.

Guided Pathways Update

CR’s Guided Pathways (GP) Coordinators are asking faculty to develop course sequences for Associate Degrees for Transfer. The sequences will be published in the catalog for students. The GP Committee is also bringing together a variety of stakeholders to develop meta majors for students. This work will kick off at the Enrollment Management Committee on Monday.

Check out Sierra College for an example of meta majors/interest areas for students:

In case you missed the email from your GP coordinator, the sequencing instruction and materials can be obtained from your GP coordinators.

Drop for Nonpayment

Students enrolled in spring 2020 will be dropped for nonpayment on Wednesday, December 4. The Admissions Office is calling students in jeopardy of being dropped at this time, and students will receive a text letting them know they need to pay their balance or complete their FAFSA to avoid being dropped.
