Dr. Angelina Hill

Vice President of Instruction

Dr. Angelina Hill is the Vice President of Instruction at College of the Redwoods. She served as the Director of Institutional Research and Institutional Effectiveness at CR prior to her appointment as Vice President of Instruction. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychobiology at UC Santa Cruz, and a Masters and PhD in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Notre Dame.

In her role as Vice President of Instruction, Dr. Hill works closely with academic deans, administrators and members of the faculty to lead the long term planning and effectiveness of academic programs to select and develop a distinguished faculty, assure quality instruction, and support the mission of the College. She also serves as the College’s liaison to the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC).

2018-2019 Goals

  • Expand course offerings in the BSS Degree
  • Expand library and other support services
  • Enhance technology for instruction
  • Carry out actions identified by the Transfer Task Force to increase transfers
  • Integrate planning to promote Student Equity, carry out actions in the integrated SSSP/SEP/BSI Plan, and actions in the Guided Pathways Plan
  • Incorporate Guided Pathways and integrated plan into the Annual Planning Process
  • Audit the current program and use of AEBG and make changes where indicated
  • Grow offerings, including development of new non-credit programs
  • Remove bottlenecks in the way of making program recommendations
  • Streamline the use of data and research for decision making
  • Agriculture, digital media, and other program recommendations made in fall 2018
  • Work with the Academic Senate to reevaluate the rubric
  • Fully implement curriculum management system by spring 2019
  • Begin catalog implementation in spring 2019
  • Engage stakeholders in dialog about the use of eLumen for SLO assessment
  • Survey stakeholders about the effectiveness of current structure
  • Research/implement alternative structures if significant issues are identified
  • Incentivize development of high need courses
  • Coordinate writing of ACCJC follow-up report
  • Work with Senate to revise GE outcomes, including ethical reasoning
  • Oversee increased documentation of closing-the-loop in assessment
  • Coordinate the Budgeting and Funding Transparency Task Force to provide greater knowledge and understanding of the budgeting process to the college community
