 Wildland Fire Fighter Academy

September 24, 2021 - January 23, 2022


MANDATORY Orientation Saturday, August 7, 2021 9am - 3pm 

(If you do not make the orientation, you cannot enroll in the class). 


A mandatory program expectation, orientation, enrollment, equipment measuring and fit testing will be held as part of the Mandatory Orientation on Saturday, August 7, 2021 0900 hrs. to 1500 hrs., on the Eureka Main Campus in Room AJ 101A. In order to be fit tested for a self-contained breathing apparatus during this orientation, please come clean shaven, no beards or large mustaches. Hair needs to be secured back from your face.

All students are required to follow Health and Safety Protocols by social distancing 6 feet apart and wearing a mask.

Regular class schedule TBD:

  • Friday 6pm-9pm
  • Saturday 8am-6pm
  • Sunday 8am-6pm

Students completing this certificate will have the knowledge and skills to perform the duties of an entry-level Wildland Firefighter as required by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire). Students are eligible to apply for Cal Fire certification on successful completion of the training.

In order to enroll in this program you must do the following:

  • Attend Orientation program on Saturday, August 7, 2021
  • Complete the College of the Redwoods Medical Clearance Form (available at Orientation meeting)
  • Return completed form to: College of the Redwoods, Eureka Downtown Office
