College of the Redwoods Workforce & Community Education is approved through the Department of Real Estate (DRE) for real estate classes in two forms: Live Lecture Classes and Correspondence. (DRE Statutory ID# S0086)

Real Estate Principles

The Bundle fee covers the cost for three courses; Real Estate Practice, Real Estate Principles, and Real Estate Finance. Also included are the textbooks, all course materials, instructors, and upon successful completion of each course, a Certificate of Completion. There will be no other course fees.The bundle price applies only to the course dates above. If you are unable to take this scheduled bundle, you can opt to pay for each class individually. Please see the refund policy below.

Payment Plan for Real Estate Bundle: $750 down (plus $20 service fee) due at registration and then $372.50 due in November and December. All payment plans require a $20 enrollment fee and must be processed using a debit/credit card. Students who do not make their payments will not be issued a Certificate of Completion and will not be allowed to take subsequent classes.


Attendance Policy
For live courses, students must attend a minimum of 90% of the approved course hours to be eligible to receive DRE pre-license course credit


Live Course Identification Statement
Participants shall present one of the following forms of identification below immediately before admittance to a live presentation of an offering:
A. A current California driver’s license.
B. A current identification card described in Section 13000 of the California Vehicle Code
C. Any identification of the participant issued by a governmental agency or a recognized real estate related trade organization within the immediately preceding five years which bears a photograph, signature and identification number of the participant.

Students registered for the live lecture class bundle, who wish to drop during the courses, will be refunded the entire amount, less $599 per classes taken or partially taken. For Example: A student wishing to drop during Real Estate Practice will be charged $599 for Real Estate Principles AND $599 for Real Estate Practice. $1495 - $599 -$599 = $297 in refund. A refund will be sent within 30 days after return of materials if the terms and time periods noted above have been met.


Correspondence Classes

Take Real Estate courses in the convenience of your home or office through College of the Redwoods correspondence real estate program. Courses are open entry/open exit, meaning you can register anytime. This is not an online course. Students have one year to complete each course from the date of enrollment. Successful completion of three college-level courses is required to qualify for the CA real estate salesperson examination. Real Estate Principles, Real Estate Practice and one other class meet California requirements. (DRE Statutory ID# S0086).

Refund Policy: Students may obtain a full refund, less a $20 handling fee, by dropping the course within 15 days of enrollment. Exclusions may apply if course materials have been used or damaged. 


Final Examination Procedures and Grading System
To pass each course you must score 70% or better on the 100 multiple choice, open book, open note, 2.5 hour final examination. The final examination can be taken twice. In the event of not passing on the second attempt, the student will need to re-enroll in the class. A passing grade on the final is required for a certificate of completion.


Correspondence Course Identification Statement
Participants shall present one of the following forms of identification immediately before the administration of the final examination:
A. A current California driver’s license.
B. A current identification card described in Section 13000 of the California Vehicle Code
C. Any identification of the participant issued by a governmental agency or a recognized real estate related trade organization within the immediately preceding five years which bears a photograph, signature and identification number of the participant.


Licensing information
Successful completion of three college-level courses is required to qualify for a real estate salesperson examination. The examination is administered in Oakland, Sacramento, Fresno, Los Angeles, and San Diego. Visit the Department of Real Estate website for information on obtaining your license.
