Firefighter I Academy

Fall Academy: August 24, 2024-December 20th, 2024

Fall Academy will start August 2024, Friday, Saturday, Sunday 0800 to 1700 hrs.

MANDATORY Orientation Saturday, May 18th, 2024, 9 am - 3 pm, CR Theater

(If you do not make the orientation, you cannot enroll in the class).

The Fire Academy offers a comprehensive program held over consecutive weekends, consisting of 9 hours each on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It focuses on equipping participants with fundamental firefighter skills and knowledge, emphasizing practical, hands-on training. This course is designed to meet the certification standards set by both the State Board of Fire Services and the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Covering 9 units, the program fulfills the educational prerequisites for Firefighter 1 certification. Adhering to stringent standards akin to those within the firefighting profession, it places significant importance on grooming, attire, discipline, and demeanor expected of firefighters. Currently our academy is not accredited and you will have to test at another location to complete the certificate.

Key aspects such as teamwork, self-assurance, discipline, adaptability, and precise execution of instructions are highlighted throughout the course. Additionally, students are required to concurrently engage in a physical training regimen (.5 units), enhancing their physical preparedness alongside the Firefighter 1 curriculum.
