Prior to moving to the Santa Rosa CTOS survey, College of the Redwoods developed and administered this employment outcomes survey.

Entering Student Surveys

2009 Entering Student Survey Report
The Entering Student Survey is administered at the beginning of each school year to gather information from entering students concerning their expectations while attending College of the Redwoods (CR), academic goals, and to obtain relevant background information.

2008 Entering Student Survey Report
The 2008 Entering Student Survey (ESS) was constructed to understand entering student’s expectations, academic goals, academic background, family background, educational background, financial status, social interest, factors leading to the decision to attend CR, and demographic information.

2007 Entering Student Survey Report
The Entering Student Survey was constructed to understand entering student’s expectations, academic goals, academic background, family educational background, financial status, social interest, factors leading to the decision to attend CR, and demographic information. The entering student survey will be administered every year. Recently stakeholders met to improve the survey instrument for the next round of administration which begins this coming May. Included below is the entering student survey instrument, entering student report, entering student executive summary, and entering student frequencies that summarize all the survey responses.

Title III Surveys

2009 Title III Survey Report
The purpose of the Title III: Data and Decision-Making Survey (Title III Survey) is to measure the use of data and perceptions of the use of data in decision-making processes at College of the Redwoods. The survey also measures the utilization of and needs for data-related workshops. Finally, the survey measures the use of Institutional Research (IR) service requests and how the process might be improved.

2008 Title III Survey Report
The purpose of the Title III Data and Decision Making Survey (Title III Survey) is to measure the use of data in decision making processes by staff, faculty, and management/administration at CR and the perception of the use of data in decision making processes by staff, faculty, and management/administration at CR.A second objective of the survey is to measure the extent of data-related training attended by staff, faculty, and management/administration and to identify future areas of training. A third objective of the survey is to measure the use of Institutional Research (IR) service requests and how to improve data gathering techniques for service requests.

Library Surveys

2009 Library Survey Report
The library survey was constructed to measure demographic information of participants and satisfaction with library services and resources, day and time availability, and library staff. The library survey has been administered since the spring of 2001 and is collected every other year.

2007 Library Survey Report
The library survey was constructed to measure demographic information of participants and satisfaction with library services and resources, day and time availability, and library staff. The library survey has been administered since the spring of 2001 and is collected every other year. The student body of the Eureka campus has been surveyed every survey cycle whereas the Del Norte Campus has been surveyed in 2003 and 2007. The Mendocino campus was surveyed for the first time in the spring of 2007.

2010 EOPS End-of-Semester Survey Report
The Extended Opportunity Program and Services End-of-Semester Survey (EOPS Survey) was constructed to measure EOPS students’ satisfaction with EOPS programs and services.

2010 EOPS End-of-Semester Comparison
The Extended Opportunity Program and Services End-of-Semester Surveys (EOPS Surveys) were constructed to measure EOPS students’ satisfaction with EOPS programs and services.? The purpose of this report is to show a comparison between similar questions from the Fall 2008, Spring 2009 and Spring 2010 surveys.

2009 EOPS Survey Report
The Extended Opportunities Programs & Services Learning Community Exit Survey (EOPS Survey) was constructed to measure EOPS students’ satisfaction with the EOPS learning community linking Guidance 150?Learning Success and English 350?Reading and Writing Skills.

2007 Student Services Survey Report
The student services survey was administered district-wide from February 1st through February 15th and had a sample of 873 students (14.9% of CR population). The survey was constructed to illuminate student satisfaction in multiple areas of student services, inform service improvement, and assess the relationship between student demographics and satisfaction and matriculation at CR. Available below is the student services survey instrument, student services survey report, student services executive summary, student services district-wide frequencies, and student services frequencies by campus.

Faculty & Staff

2008 Convocation Participation Report
The convocation survey was developed to assess CR faculty, staff, management and administration views regarding convocation/flex activities held from August 18, 2008 through August 22, 2008. The survey was also meant as a means to better understand convocation participants’ views regarding their convocation activity choice(s) and the benefit(s) it provided. Demographic data was collected with an emphasis on understanding the distribution among the district and those who attend convocation. This survey information may assist in measuring the satisfaction and dissatisfaction of convocation activities and improving CR professional growth activities in the future.

2010 Bookstore Survey Report
The College of the Redwoods Bookstore Survey (Bookstore Survey) was constructed to measure students’ satisfaction with the bookstore services and selection on the Eureka campus.

2009 District Web Assessment
The CR web site assessment was designed to evaluate the opinions of local high school students regarding CR’s homepage. The review of the CR homepage included enrollment as well as student services and programs from the perspective of incoming students. The goal was to ensure all new student information was easily accessible and readily available via the CR web site. The results will be utilized to modify the CR homepage and the various web pages of CR’s programs and student support services.

2008 Instructional Site Survey Report
The instructional site surveys were employed to assess satisfaction with student services, class offerings, scheduling, and reasons for attending site campuses. In addition, the surveys were constructed to better understand instructional site student's educational goals and demographic characteristics.

2007 Schedule Survey Report
The student schedule survey was constructed to betters assess CRs ability to accommodate classes offerings to meet students needs, better understand students time commitments, assess why students drop or miss classes, and see if CR could improve class offerings or resources that would allow students to take more classes.

Program/Discipline Surveys

2009 Honors Survey Report
The Honors Report was designed to evaluate the effectiveness and levels of satisfaction of the Honors program from an alumni perspective. The research methods included online surveys and a National Student Clearinghouse cohort comparison of non-Honors CR alumni and Honors alumni. The focus of the online survey included alumni satisfaction of the program and its benefits. The focus of the cohort comparison was to ascertain if Honors alumni have higher transfer, success and graduation rates than non-Honors alumni. The Honors Report will be used to support the Honors Program Review and to improve the programs services and support. The 2009 Honors Report includes both research methods (online survey and cohort comparison data).

2008 Honors Faculty and Student Survey Report
The 2008 Honors Faculty and Student Surveys were constructed to assess the awareness and satisfaction of the Honors Program. The evaluation of the program included Honors faculty, Honors students and non-Honors students. The data was utilized to inform Honors Program Review.

2010 MST Survey Report
The Marine Science Technology Program Graduate Survey (MST Survey) was constructed to measure MST graduates’ satisfaction with the MST program as well as how the knowledge gained in this program played a role in their education and career.

Administration of Justice (AJ) Survey Report
The purpose of the Administration of Justice survey was to collect data from the local law enforcement community in the following areas:

  • Previous education and training of law enforcement personnel on in local communities
  • Law enforcement personnel level of interest in pursuing additional training or a degree/certificates through the Administration of Justice program at CR
  • Improvements the Administration of Justice program can better accommodate student and future student needs
  • Local law enforcement demographic information
