About Psychology

Psychology is the scientific student of behavior and mental processes.

This major is designed for students interested in an introduction to the field of psychology and for students looking to further their understanding of the biological, psychological, and environmental influences on human behavior. Students may prepare for transfer to complete their Bachelor's degrees at other four-year colleges.

Pathways to transfer include Associate of Arts, Liberal Arts: Behavioral and Social Sciences or Associate in Arts for Transfer (AA-T) in Psychology, intended to meet the lower division requirements for psychology majors at a CSU campus such as Humboldt State University, with overlapping preparation for most campuses of the University of California.

These degrees provides preparation for tranfer work

in psychology or in another field, such as business, health care, or social services. Many employers are interested in the communication, analytic, and writing skills that psychology majors bring to the workplace.
