Women’s soccer allows early goal, falls to Shasta

REDDING – The College of the Redwoods women’s soccer team gave up a goal in the opening minutes of its road game at Shasta on Friday, and despite playing a strong game, fell 2-0.

The Corsairs (1-6 overall, 0-5 Golden Conference) was able to possess the ball in the middle third of the field and create chances in the attacking third, but could never find the net.

“After that opening goal we tried to gamble at different times and we just couldn’t get one past,” said CR head coach John Davidson. “It was one of our best performances of the year, a total team effort. Of course we would have liked to have won, but this is another performance we can build on.”

Redwoods will look to rebound next week when it travels to Lassen on Friday at 2 p.m. CR will be home again on Friday, Oct. 30 at noon to take on Butte.
