MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

MARCUS FINNEY

FOOTBALL

The Corsairs secured their first victory in the 2018 season against Gavilan 44-28. Finney was a huge part of the Corsair’s success, contributing 132 All-Purpose Yards, 2 Touchdowns, and a blocked punt. Finney speaks about his performance, and a preview on the upcoming matchup against Hartnell:

            “Individually, the coaches put me in a place to make plays. Every week we have someone new having a big game and I think that’s a big testament to the coaches.”

            “They (Hartnell) have some great athletes and we have some great athletes. I feel we have the advantage.”

 

FEMALE ATHELETE OF THE WEEK

PARKER OLSEN

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Lady Corsairs took the show on the road and were victorious in a 3-0 effort against Merritt. Coach Ayala praised Olsen’s performance in the shutout, saying she had a great defensive performance and took the role of leadership on the field. Olsen speaks on her performance, as well as keeping this momentum throughout the season:

            “At the beginning I felt a little slow, but my teammates kept cheering me on. I got my rhythm down and I think I played well, despite the heat.”

            “I think all the girls have it in their heart, and the passion. They really want to push themselves. It really makes a difference.”
