SEPTEMBER 17th-22nd
MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
LEVI SCRIBNER
FOOTBALL
The Corsairs took care of business in an exciting conference home opener against Contra Costa 44-13. Scribner had a solid performance with 4 tackles (2 solo, 2 ast) and an interception. Coach Borba hopes this is just the beginning and Scribner continues his early success. Scribner speaks out about the team atmosphere against Contra Costa and how to bring that same result on the road this week versus De Anza.
“We were really hyped up out there. As a team I believe we played up to that hype.”
“We been watching film all week and going through our schemes. The coaches have set us up in a position where I believe we can win.”
FEMALE ATHELETE OF THE WEEK
JESSICA SIMON
VOLLEYBALL
The Lady Corsairs are battle-tested and already have had more success than all of last year. Freshmen Jessica Simon’s contribution of consistent play is a significant part of why. The former Eureka High Logger talks about the team’s preseason road trips as well as her expectations as conference play approaches.
“Road trips are pretty fun. We listen to lots of music and just enjoy each other’s company.”
“I feel that we have a lot of skill. If we can just work together, keep our energy level high and place the ball in smart places we will have a chance to win some games.”
