9/24 - 9/29 Players of the week

SEPTEMBER 24th – 29th

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

ELIJAH HICKS

FOOTBALL

The Corsairs came up short on the road in an exciting 42-34 game against De Anza. Hicks has been a reliable force all season, tallying in this game 74 rushing yards, 49 receiving yards, and 2 rushing touchdowns. Hicks breaks down his game performance and how the Corsairs will rebound next week on the road against Cabrillo.

“With my 1st carry I rushed for 40+ yards and that gave me and my teammates confidence that we had a chance to be competitive and win the game. Unfortunately, we came up short.

“We get one of our QBs back in the lineup, so our offensive playbook will expand this week. We should also have other key players back from injuries this week and that will help us against Cabrillo.”

FEMALE ATHELETE OF THE WEEK

JENNIFER MURILLO

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Lady Corsairs split in the first week of conference play, winning at home against Feather River 4-1, and defeated by a tough Lake Tahoe team on the road 8-1. Murillo scored and assisted in the Feather River game and scored the lone goal in the Lake Tahoe game. Murillo speaks on her performances and her insight on the team’s chemistry.

“My performance this week was pretty good even though I felt that I could have done more things on the field. Lake Tahoe was tough team and is a tough place to play but we still competed.”

“It has been really fun! I expected it to be different, but I am enjoying every moment and I really like all my teammates.”
