College of the Redwoods Softball Coach Steps Down

College of the Redwoods women’s softball coach Maggie White will be stepping down from coaching after twenty-five years. She will continue to serve as a Health and Kinesiology instructor and will mentor all student athletes in CR’s Cap & Gown program, where she will help students balance the demands of both their studies and their sport.

“Coach White has provided a tremendous amount of dedication and service to our softball program for the past twenty-five years,” said CR Athletic Director Bob Brown. “She holds the 2nd longest consecutive coaching tenure in department history for any program and has been a positive influence on so many young women’s lives over the years.”

Coach White’s teams had several playoff appearances during her tenure, won four GVC conference championships and had one state final championship appearance in 2006.

“I am extremely thankful that we had Maggie White serve as the head coach of our women’s softball program,” said CR President Keith Flamer. “She epitomizes what an outstanding college athletic coach should be. Our softball players have benefited tremendously from her strong leadership and mentorship on and off the field and I am certain that she will excel in her new mentorship position with our Cap & Gown program.”

The search for a new softball coach will commence immediately and the position will be open to all qualified, interested candidates to apply starting Monday, July 19.
