College of the Redwoods baseball sophomore and Arcata High School alum, Tyler Keil will continue his education and baseball playing career at University of Colorado-Colorado Springs next year. Keil, an outfielder, led the Corsairs in hitting during the 2016 season with a .322 batting average. The CR leadoff hitter also lead the team in stolen bases (10) and sported a .990 fielding percentage. Keil was selected as 2nd Team All-Golden Valley Conference at the end of the season. During the 2015 season, he batted .294 with two home runs and 17 runs batted in, as well as stealing 10 bases that season also.
University of Colorado-Colorado Springs is an NCAA Division II institution competing in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Mountain Lions will be fielding an intercollegiate baseball team for the first time the in university history in the spring of 2017.
