Sports Auction

College of the Redwoods annual Dinner and Sports Auction is the biggest fundraiser of the year that directly benefits CR student athletes and their sports programs. These funds will be used by the Athletics Department to provide much-needed services and equipment for CR student athletes. The generosity our community shows year after year helps offset shrinking revenues for athletics, and keeps CR competitive with other programs across the state.

The 15th annual College of the Redwoods sports auction raised more than $100,000 on Thursday, August 9.

Redwoods Athletic Director Bob Brown said last weeks generous turnout is a testament to the “great amount of support given to athletics by the community.”

Brown said the money raised from the auction will go towards supplies, such as jerseys and equipment, for the 13 different teams on campus.

“All the money raised benefits the athletics programs directly,” Brown said. “The money will give student-athletes a better experience in their sport and in their educational experience.”

Brad Curtis, a former Redwoods student-athlete who went on to lead a career in acting, voice-acting and newscasting, was the guest of honor at the auction.

Curtis won two Golden Valley Conference championships in 1970 and ‘71, including a state title in ‘70, while starting at quarterback for Redwoods. Curtis was also a part of the longest winning streak in the history of Redwoods football, a 20 game stretch which has not been topped in almost 50 years.

“On behalf of the athletic department and the college, we want to thank the community and show our appreciation for their support, ” Brown said.

More information on how to donate and purchase tickets will be available soon.
