Heads-up—Applied Technology Building Work to Begin Summer of 2017

Published on 7/9/2015.

The State allocated approximately thirty six million dollars to the District to upgrade our utility infrastructure.  A portion of the Utility Infrastructure Project (UIP) funds have been earmarked to replace all of the HVAC systems, replace the ceiling, add new lighting, and improve ADA access to the Applied Technology (AT) building.

Given the age of the building and the level of work to be completed, we anticipate that the State may require us to perform some seismic strengthening to the facility. If that is the case, we will require 30 feet of clearance around the entire AT building and limit access to it when the seismic work is being performed.

We anticipate starting this project immediately at the end of the spring 2017 semester and have the work completed by the time the fall 2017 semester begins.  Vice President Lindsey and his staff understand that closing the AT facility for the summer of 2017 will require finding additional classroom space and temporary work locations for staff and faculty. We’re going to try to have a few new portable classrooms operational by then.
