Our own Professor Cindy Hooper was in New York yesterday at an event sponsored by New York University Infrastructure Aesthetics. Cindy's short films were shared and followed by a discussion along with artist William Lamson.
Cindy's short films patiently examine landscapes of waste, water, energy, and agriculture, with careful attention to the political and environmental policies that reorder these environments. Her most recent exhibition, “A Negotiable Utopia: The Humboldt Bay Project,” interprets the built environment of California’s second largest estuary.
Infrastructure Aesthetics is a graduate student organized event series exploring representations of infrastructure and the built environment in cinema, art, and literature. This event is supported by NYU’s Department of Media, Culture, and Communication and the NYU Urban Democracy Lab.
