I want to share a brief summary of the Board workshop held today:

• The board members held a  very spirited, indepth, and enlightening discussion relative to their 2017-18 Board Goals.  You could tell from the comments that the Trustees are fully committed to making the District a great place for our students to learn, supporting facutly and staff, and ensuring that the District remains relevant to future generations of students.  In the end the Tustees approved goals focusing on: Accrediitation; Fiscal Stability; Student Success and Equity; Relationship with the President/Superintendent; Future of the College; Board Development; and the Foundation. We will post the approved goals on the Board of Trustees website soon.
• The Trustees also participated in an important  professional development opportunity.  We had a trainer from BoardDocs provide an overview of the new online governance software tool we're moving forward with called BoardDocs. BoardDocs is a management system that will give us a way to electronically publish and revise agenda items and support documents while maintaining a searchable data base. Our plan is to be fully operational with BoardDocs for the October Board meeting and roll the software out to other CR Brown Act governed bodies, College Council and the Foundation this fall.  You can see the demo the Board used today at:http://www.boarddocs.com/ca/redwoods/Board.nsf/Public.
• The Board reviewed and discussed the draft 2017-2020 Enrollment Management Plan.  Kudos to Dr. Angelina Hill and her team for putting the draft plan together. The Trustees had some very good questions and comments.

The next meeting of the Board is their regular meeting on September 5, 2017 on the Eureka campus.
