Faculty Achievement: Wendy Riggs Was Elected President of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society

Published on 4/17/2019.

I am very proud to announce that Professor Wendy Riggs was elected to the presidency of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS). HAPS is an international organization with about 2,000 members from high schools, two and four year colleges, universities, and private businesses in the United States, Canada and other parts of the world.

Wendy has been a member of the society since 2011, attended her first annual conference in 2013, chaired the Communications Committee in 2014 and served as secretary last year. Our Wendy Riggs played a starring role in the society’s video https://www.hapsweb.org/page/welcome_xl (Wendy is featured at the 44 seconds, and 2.10, 2.46, 3.09, and 3.48 minutes points in the video).

Wendy’s three year commitment will begin on July 1, 2019. She will serve as the incoming president next year, then acting president, then outgoing president.  According to Wendy, “It is a really amazing organization, and I get to work with some awesome people. I'm looking forward to the gig.”

Dr. Dave Bazzard, Dean of the Mathematics, Science, Behavioral and Social Science Division, wrote in a congratulatory message that Wendy's election to the presidency is well-deserved, given Wendy’s commitment to this national organization (and the largest community of anatomy and physiology instructors in the country) and her tireless work to both contribute to and benefit from HAPS.  He went on to say that the MSBSS Division is proud of her accomplishments and her great representation of College of the Redwoods in this national venue.

We are all very proud of Wendy. She will bring her own unique style and flair to the presidency. Congratulations President (Elect) Wendy Riggs. That has a nice ring to it!
