Board approves New Science Lab for Del Norte

Board approves New Science Lab for Del Norte

Published on 2/24/2016.

With a unanimous vote at today’s special meeting, the College of the Redwoods Board of Trustees approved the recommendation to award the construction bid for the new science lab project on the Del Norte Education Center to Cal Electro, Inc. The project will provide a state-of-the-art teaching wet laboratory for Biology, Chemistry, Nursing, Anatomy and Physiology as well as a dry lab to support our Geology curriculum at the Center. Additionally, the project will provide more accessible pathways, a new emergency backup generator, and better fire lanes. I strongly believe that the Science Lab project will be a fabulous addition to our Del Norte Center and will provide enhanced learning opportunities for our students, faculty and the community. This is a culmination of a lot of hard work by several of our Eureka and Del Norte colleagues. This sentiment was echoed by Board of Trustees President Tom Ross "With the new facility, the Board of Trustees is continuing their support of the Crescent City community and greatly appreciates the staff’s hard work on this project.” I am looking forward to breaking ground on this wonderful project!
