College-wide dialogue on budget and finance issues

Published on 6/15/2016.

We have been discussing the District’s long-term budget at the Board level and in various meetings.  We have a solid plan to balance our 2016-17 budget and we’ve implemented some cost savings measures that will help us address an anticipated undesirable 2017-18 budget situation.

I am grateful to the leaders of the Academic Senate, CRFO, CSEA, and the Management Council for their willingness to come together this summer and deliberate together to identify some additional cost savings and revenue enhancement measures.

We see the long-term budget situation as an opportunity to increase revenue and review all of our operations to make sure we deliver services to students in the most cost-effective way possibleWe welcome your ideas and energy.  The administration has developed a “Budget Forum” designed to provide a resource for college-wide dialogue on budget and finance issues.  We encourage all college community members  to share their thoughts and ideas for balancing the college’s fiscal year 2017-2018 budget and ensuring long-term financial sustainability.

All suggestions will be reviewed and responded to regularly by the Executive Cabinet members.

You will find the Forum under the Faculty/Staff link on the main webpage.  Once there, you’ll find the “Budget Forum” option on the right side of the site.

The log in process is a little clunky but we will be making improvements as we go. You can contact the President’s office for assistance if needed.

We want to hear all the wonderful ideas out there.
